The calico kitten, despite the common misconception that it is an actual breed of cat, actually refers to the pattern of coloring on the kitten’s fur. The fur is usually mostly white, but also contains patches of orange and black. The coloration is the result of the development of a gene while the kitten is still an embryo that is known as the, “white spotting factor,” which slows the movement of cells across the developing kitten’s body. The development of a calico kitten in any given litter is entirely random.

Teacup kittens are the smallest <a href="http://newbornkittens.net"title="" >newborn kittens in the world, and some would argue that they are also by far the cutest. That is not to say that all miniature or minutely sized kittens are in fact a teacup kitten. There are a few things to watch for to ensure that you are not taken advantage of by a shady breeder or other pet vendor.

<a href="http://newbornkittens.net/himalayan-kittens"title="" >Himalayan kittens are beautiful, interesting creatures with just as interesting a history. They are a very new breed, less than one hundred years old. They were first bred by an American doctor who was trying to create a new breed that had both the body and luxurious long coat of a Persian, while at the same time displaying the prominent pointed coloring common to the Siamese. For a short time, it was considered its own breed, but has since been relegated to little more than a color variation of the Persian breed. There are a number of characteristics common to the Himalayan “breed” that make it an interesting companion.

The first thing you need to know about <a href="http://newbornkittens.net/tabby-kittens-are-not-actually-a-breed"title="" >tabby kittens is that, despite what most people think, they are not actually a breed. Tabby refers to the coloring pattern on their fur, rather than any sort of actual breed. People tend to think that they are an actual breed because the pattern is so common among so many other breeds. The pattern itself generally consists mainly of stripes, but can also include swirls and spots, either mixed into the stripes or on their own. There are several different varieties of tabbies, but the most common are listed below.

<a href="http://newbornkittens.net/bengal-kittens-what-you-need-to-know"title="" >Bengal kittens are growing in popularity as one of the newest domestic cat breeds to be introduced to the world. They are considered fashionable not only because of their exotic appearance, due to the fact that they are a cross bred animal between a Bengal tiger and a domestic housecat, but also due to their rarity. Because they are a relatively new breed, they are only available at select breeders. If you are considering a Bengal kitten as the newest addition to your family, there are a few things that you may want to keep in mind.

<a href="http://newbornkittens.net/tips-for-adopting-persian-kittens"title="" >Persian kittens are sweet, beautiful animals that are rapidly growing in popularity as pets. This is due in part to their friendly, personable attitudes, as well as their silky soft hair that makes them such pretty creatures. They are also known as “Persian Longhair,” or, if they do not have the necessary pedigree papers, “Domestic Longhair.” They are one of the oldest cat breeds, but have only recently taken on their now common name. They make wonderful companions and, for the most part, are very easy to care for. There are, however, certain things that you need to keep in mind when you adopt a Persian kitten.
